If you're out and about with the little ones, you need a programme. Especially for bad weather days. We have put together some tips: For activities around Heiligenhafen that are fun for the whole family!
A visit to Karls is truly an experience: in the lovingly designed outdoor area, kids can take a spin on the tractor track, slide down the slide at full speed, visit the goats in their stable, watch the rodents feeding in the guinea pig house - or step on the gas in the Tobeland.
And there is also plenty for the grown-ups to discover: Many different regional products are on offer in the farm building itself. Homemade jam, fresh bread, delicious sweets and a large selection of stylish furnishings attract many visitors to Warnsdorf near Lübeck every day. The journey from Heiligenhafen takes around 45 minutes by car - but as you can easily spend a whole day at Karls, the trip is well worth it.
By the way: there are currently a total of 55,269 coffee pots in Karls Erlebnis Dörfern. They made it into the Guinness World Records book back in 2012. In Warnsdorf, you can marvel at part of the collection on metre-high shelves and even donate your own pot as a collector's item if you wish.
It's always good to ask questions, but it's even better when you have the right answers: The Galileo World of Knowledge on Fehmarn is the perfect place for the curious and thirsty for knowledge! Exciting things from the fields of natural history, technology and culture are exhibited in three museums. Here, young and old can immerse themselves in a world of knowledge that can be discovered in a fun and interactive way.
Hansa-Park in Sierksdorf is around 30 minutes' drive from Heiligenhafen. In Germany's only theme park by the sea, 125 attractions, rides and live shows await you. Colourful gardens and themed worlds are laid out on around 46 hectares of parkland. A wonderful splendour of flowers, let yourself drift or sit down on a park bench and enjoy a snack.
Whether you want to ride a rollercoaster, climb on the high ropes course, pan for gold, dare to fly high on the climbing wall or take a ride on the historic steam locomotive - there is a huge range of activities on offer & there is certainly no shortage of fun.
The Karl May plays in Bad Segeberg are legendary and have long since achieved cult status. Thousands of visitors flock to the Kalkberg every year. They all want to experience the Wild West.
Between June and September, you can enjoy it too. Against a beautiful backdrop and in the open air, you will not only see Winnetou and Old Shatterhand, but also hear guns firing, experience galloping mustangs, big explosions and thrilling duels. The world-famous novel by Karl May naturally serves as the basis for the individual productions.
The marine centre is also located on the island of Fehmarn. Here, everything revolves around life in the depths of the oceans: fish, fish and more fish. The choice is yours: corals, starfish, nemos - or would you prefer to watch an impressive ray? There is also a huge shark tank where you can marvel at these impressive sea creatures up close!
We have another tip for all Baltic Sea fans: the Baltic Sea Adventure World Heiligenhafen. A Baltic Sea aquarium with a geocentre, observation tower and large roof terrace offers lots of interesting facts and a unique view of the water. Here you can learn all about the history of the Baltic Sea - from prehistoric times to modern-day fishing.
Just 40 minutes by car from Heiligenhafen, you can experience marine animals up close at SEA LIFE Timmendorfer Strand. Immerse yourself in a fascinating underworld and go on a voyage of discovery.
More than 2,500 animals from various regions can be seen here. And anyone who has always wanted to know what piranhas actually look like has the opportunity to do so. Because right by the Baltic Sea is the rainforest, so to speak, with all its animals and distinctive flora. Another highlight is certainly the spectacular underwater tunnel. You can come face to face with sea turtles, sharks and the popular banner fish. Daredevils can get up close and personal with starfish in the touch pool.
